In our own affairs
It is quite understandable that in the countries where bamboo is a native
building material, furniture and articles for the local needs just follow the principle of the functionality
without much concern about the aesthetical value. But when some western importers argue
that poorly processed, ill-favoured items with cracked poles were "a natural feature" and "typically bamboo",
it strikes as strange and is a kind of vindication for missing care about customers trust.
Background
Guided by the idea to impose our own criteria on quality and to be able to control the process flow from
its very beginning, we set up a modern local manufacturing site in Jakarta, Indonesia, with educated workers in terms of quality awareness and high perception for western standards.
Under control of qualified management we aim to gain the
adequate reputation to the bamboo and to promote this wonderfull natural material in entering the high level of
living ambience.
Certainly we are not the first who chosed this way, yet among those who for
the sake of bamboo are willing to present its beauty and its real character to those who can appreciate it.
OTHER IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF OUR CORPORATE APPROACH
Environmental
Fortunately the giant grass bamboo is self-regenerating. This means that using bamboo for industrial
purposes - in contrary to the tropical timber - will not pose an impact on the precious resources of the
rain forests, thus preserving the natural ecological balance. The cultivation of plantages from our
suppliers is done without using pesticides.
Bamboo
for furniture production may be harvested only during certain parts of the year. This also applies to the
manufacturing and shippment. Only the culms having right age are allowed to be felled, facts of importance
for the environment protection.
At no step of the production we apply harmful or even poisoneus chemicals.
For treatment against insects mild and well balanced solutions of natural chemicals are applied in a 4-way bath system by permanent controlling the fluid density. The finishing is done exclusively with intoxical, high quality lacquer in three steps: double sanding/sealing with final topcoating.
Trade off
between Tradition and Western World
In tradition grown up indonesian workers are trained to combine their traditional know how with the
perception of the criteria such as the nature protection and understanding the western quality expectations.
Besides traditional tools and drill no other machines are used. Advanced technology is applied where it seems to be absolutely necessary like a solar program-contrrolled kiln dry system to achieve the required moisture contents. Solely the skill of the
workers coupled with the quality awareness are factors contributing to the achievment of the desired results.
Social
and human factors
With are proud to point out, that our initiative is a small but important contribution to the social
environment. Not only new employments have been created, there is an
added value by direct exchanging of thoughts and experience between
two cultural environments aiding in harmony between nature,
tradition and western requirements.
By the way, we dont allow children for any kind of work nor we
allow recruiting of any in Indonesia socially underprivileged persons.
Production Quality
Assurance
Our approach is, that a product is only as good as the consequent adherence to the posed criteria during all
phases of its development.
We have set up quality requirements
and an educated and qualified staf cares about their implementation. The continuing education is one of the
factors which guarantee us the realization of our goals and secure the continuance of our way.
